Reports to: Travel and Administrative Officer Location: Cairo, Egypt Purpose of the position The office Driver will serve as part of the Country Office – Motor Pool (COMP) team and will drive official vehicles for the transport of authorized personnel for official purposes, usually within Cairo but also to other research work locations within Egypt (Bani Suief, Kafr el-Shekih, Sharkiah, Wadi Natroun, Alexandria, Qena and Aswan, etc) and provide clerical support as needed.

icarda.org. Main responsibilities: Provide reliable and secure driving services using office vehicle for Country Office staff, programs, and operations teams, and ICARDA visitors: - Transport authorized personnel.
- Deliver and collect mail and documents; and perform other messenger responsibilities.
- Meet official personnel and visitors at the airport when required.
Ensure cost-saving through proper use and day-to-day maintenance of the assigned office vehicle: - Maintain accurate daily vehicle logs/movement for all office vehicles including: daily mileage, gas consumption, oil changes, greasing, etc.
Manage the day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle, checks oil, water, Battery, brakes, tires, etc.
- Provide inputs to the preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports.
- Make timely minor repairs and/or arrange for major repairs and annual maintenance with authorized shops as per official process of ICARDA.
- Ensure that the vehicle is always clean and ready.
Ensure that all required documents, supplies, and necessary spare parts are available in the assigned vehicle: - Maintain up to date vehicle documents such as insurance, logs, office directory, and map of the city/country.
- Ensure vehicle first aid kit is adequately stocked with standard medical supplies.
- Take all immediate actions required by rules, regulations, and laws in case of involvement in accidents.
Terms of appointment, salary, and benefits This is a nationally recruited staff position open for Egyptian nationals for which ICARDA offers an attractive compensation package including a competitive salary, medical insurance, 30 days of annual leave, five months’ maternity leave, 15 days’ paternity leave.
The successful candidate will be offered an initial contract of 3 years, renewable subject to continued need for the position and satisfactory performance.
The first year will be a probationary period.

Education, qualifications, and experience Secondary Education/High School with a valid driver's license is required (First-Class Licence).
Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience as a driver with a safe driving record.
Fluency in English and Arabic are required (oral and written).
Working records in another UN or International Organizations is desirable.
Thorough knowledge of local driving rules and regulations.
Plan and monitor own work, pay attention to details, deliver quality work by deadline.
Show drive and motivation, able to deliver calmly in face of adversity, confident, and can adapts to change.
Vehicle management: Knowledge of policy & procedures on fleet management.
Ability to respond timely and appropriately with a sense of urgency, provide consistent solutions, and deliver timely and quality results and/or solutions to fulfil and understand the real customers' needs.
Knowledge of road map of Cairo and locations of main Embassies and Ministries, etc.
Experience in driving a variety of makes and models of vehicles - heavy and light passenger vehicles.
