To manage and operate a fleet of trucks and heavy vehicles efficiently, ensuring timely transportation operations with minimal cost while adhering to safety, quality, and customer service standards.
✅ Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise the planning, scheduling, and execution of daily trips and shipments.
- Manage operations staff, supervisors, and drivers, and ensure effective task distribution.
- Monitor the technical and operational condition of the fleet, coordinating with maintenance teams for readiness.
- Track fuel consumption, mileage, and driver performance using telematics reports.
- Utilize GPS and fleet tracking systems to improve efficiency and minimize losses.
- Ensure on-time delivery, customer satisfaction, and the safe transport of goods.
- Prepare and analyze daily, weekly, and monthly operations reports.
- Develop and enforce operating policies for loading/unloading and safety.
- Coordinate with other departments (warehouse, sales, finance) for smooth workflow.
- Oversee compliance with traffic regulations and safety standards, and manage licenses and insurance.
- Identify staffing and training needs for drivers and the operations team.
Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, or Industrial Engineering (preferred).
- Advanced courses in transport management or logistics operations.
- Minimum of 7–10 years of experience in transportation or heavy fleet operations, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Proficient in fleet management and route planning software.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and solve daily operational challenges.
- Excellent communication with teams, clients, and suppliers.
- Good knowledge of traffic laws and occupational safety standards.
- CILT – Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport
- OSHA or HSE Safety Certifications
- Fleet or fuel management training courses
