To manage, analyze, and control project costs to ensure completion within approved budgets. The Senior Cost Control Engineer is responsible for budget development, cost tracking, forecasting, and providing accurate cost-related data to support effective decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.
✅ Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain project budgets, monitor commitments, expenditures, and forecasts.
- Review and verify cost estimates and pricing for new proposals or change orders.
- Monitor and report actual costs vs. budget, analyze variances, and provide cost trend analyses.
- Prepare cash flow forecasts and update based on project progress and cost performance.
- Collaborate with planning engineers to align cost data with project schedules and progress.
- Analyze quantities, productivity rates, unit costs, and earned value to support performance evaluation.
- Maintain and update cost control systems and tools, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
- Support the change management process, assessing cost impacts of scope changes.
- Participate in project reviews and prepare detailed monthly cost reports for internal and client use.
- Coordinate with procurement, engineering, and construction teams to gather relevant cost data.
Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Finance.
- Minimum 7–10 years of experience in cost control or project controls, especially in construction, oil & gas, infrastructure, or industrial projects.
- Proficiency in cost control software (e.g., Primavera P6, SAP, Oracle, CCS Candy).
- Strong analytical and numerical skills.
- Solid understanding of project budgeting, forecasting, and earned value management (EVM).
- Ability to interpret technical documents, BOQs, and contract terms.
- Excellent communication and reporting skills.
- CCP (Certified Cost Professional) – AACE
