Contract Preparation & Review:
- Prepare, review, and analyze contracts, subcontracts, and tender documents.
- Ensure all contractual terms and conditions comply with company standards and legal requirements.
- Draft and review correspondence, agreements, variations, and amendments.
- Support the bid/tendering team in reviewing client RFPs, scope, and risk identification.
2. Contract Administration:
- Administer the full lifecycle of contracts — from award to completion and closeout.
- Monitor contract performance, obligations, and deliverables of both the client and subcontractors.
- Ensure proper documentation and filing of all contractual communications.
- Prepare contract status reports and update management on contract performance and risks.
3. Claims & Variations Management:
- Identify potential claims, variations, and change orders, and prepare detailed justifications.
- Support the project team in negotiating contract variations and ensuring timely approvals.
- Maintain accurate records of site instructions, correspondence, and changes impacting the contract.
- Assist in the resolution of disputes and contractual conflicts.
4. Financial & Commercial Support:
- Work closely with the cost control and procurement teams to ensure cost alignment with contract terms.
- Evaluate subcontractor quotations and ensure fair commercial terms.
- Participate in the preparation of interim payment applications and final account statements.
- Track project budgets, forecasts, and cash flow in relation to contractual milestones.
5. Risk & Compliance:
- Identify and mitigate contractual and commercial risks during project execution.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, insurance, and legal requirements.
- Conduct contract reviews and audits to ensure proper adherence to standards.
- Support management in claims defense, arbitration, or legal proceedings, if required.
Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering (or related discipline).
- Minimum 5–10 years of experience as a Contracts Engineer in construction, oil & gas, or infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of contract law, FIDIC, and commercial practices.
- Experience in EPC or design-build projects preferred.
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office, ERP systems, and contract management tools.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
