Research & Development (R&D) Specialist

Product Development & Innovation:

  • Develop new dairy and beverage products (milk, yogurt, flavored drinks, juices, etc.) based on market demands and company strategy.
  • Improve and reformulate existing products to enhance taste, texture, cost, or shelf life.
  • Conduct pilot plant trials and lead scale-up activities to full production.
  • Evaluate new ingredients, additives, and flavor systems for potential application.
  • Collaborate with the marketing and sales teams to align new product ideas with market trends.

Process & Technology Development:

  • Work closely with the production and engineering teams to optimize manufacturing processes.
  • Ensure that product formulations are compatible with plant equipment and production capabilities.
  • Participate in equipment validation, process trials, and new technology evaluations.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste.

Quality & Compliance:

  • Ensure all developed products comply with food safety and regulatory standards (HACCP, ISO 22000, FDA, SASO, etc.).
  • Conduct shelf-life, stability, and sensory tests to validate product performance.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of formulations, trials, and specifications.
  • Support the QA/QC teams in setting and verifying product standards and parameters.

Research & Market Analysis:

  • Monitor emerging technologies, ingredients, and market trends in the dairy and beverage industry.
  • Benchmark competitor products to identify gaps and opportunities for innovation.
  • Provide technical insight and recommendations to support marketing and strategic initiatives.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with procurement, production, and packaging teams to ensure cost-effective and sustainable product development.
  • Support production troubleshooting related to formulation or process issues.
  • Train staff on new formulations and production procedures.


Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Dairy Technology, Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum 3–7 years of experience in R&D or product development within the dairy and beverage industry.
  • Strong knowledge of formulation, processing, and quality control of dairy and beverage products.
  • Hands-on experience with UHT, pasteurization, homogenization, and fermentation processes.
  • Familiarity with food safety standards, labeling regulations, and nutrition guidelines.
  • Proficient in MS Office, formulation software, and lab equipment operation.
  • Excellent analytical, creative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
