Organizational Setting and Reporting Relationships:

The United Nations Human Settlements Programme, UN-HABITAT, is the agency for human settlements. It is mandated by the UN General Assembly to promote socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities with the goal of providing adequate shelter for all. This post is located in the Division of Regional Office for the Arab States (ROAS), Cairo, duty station, within the Programme Unit.

The Team Assistant will support the work of the Housing, SDG Localization and NUA programme, under the direct supervision of the Programme Officer.

Responsibilities: Under the direct supervision of the Programme Officer at UN-Habitat Regional Office for Arab Stats, the Team Assistant is expected to provide the following duties and responsibilities

•Supports strategic partnerships through the production of a variety of routine correspondence, reports, tables, charts, graphs, etc., in accordance with institutional standards.
•Under the guidance of the supervisor, proofreads written products for completeness and grammatical and typographical accuracy.
•Maintains calendar/schedules; monitors changes and communicates relevant information to appropriate team members, colleagues and partners.
•Responds to routine inquiries and information requests, including drafting routine written responses, or routes to appropriate personnel for handling as required.
•Maintains files (both paper and electronic) and databases for work unit.
•Updates and maintains large distribution lists; assemble documents, reports and other materials for global dissemination, where possible using electronic formats; coordinates courier services.
•Performs a variety of administrative duties (e.g. meeting organization, reservations, office supply and equipment orders, etc.), including preparing and/or processing administrative requests/documents (e.g. travel requests, expense claims, vouchers, visa applications, etc.).

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience: Experience in general office support or related area is required. Proficiency in MS Office suite is required (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Experience in coordination among multiple teams/partners , Previous experience working with the United Nations or any similar international Organization is desired. Experience is desirable. Working experience within the Arab Region context is an asset.

Language: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written Arabic and English are required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
