Purpose of the job
Planning and specifying the appropriate Radio Access Network (RAN) solution(s) to fulfill network expansions and growth requirements by implementing technical designs based on state-of-the-art technologies in timely manner & within optimized & efficient cost. PM for large scale transversal RAN projects for the whole RAN team. Accountable on RAN planning service & consultant engineers.
Duties and responsibilities
- Responsible of the RAN network capacity and quality objectives with a direct impact on CAPEX/OPEX.
- Support all technology domains (Core CS& PS, Data network, Optimization , etc.) for Network expansion, redundancy and protection objectives by providing technical assistance regarding the network plan & design to ensure adherence to quality parameters & standards.
- Introduce new Network elements for rollout; by providing necessary future proof RAN equipment with optimum architecture in accordance with technology standards roadmap & network expansion demand.
- Maintain RAN network KPIs as CBR, CDR, CSSR, etc. within the agreed thresholds for the area under accountability.
- Monitor and dimension traffic and signaling links on the RAN interfaces as well as the processors load.
- Provide & Evaluate technical design solutions for RAN network for 2G/3G/4G technologies and controllers dimensioning in line with the business requirements.
- Understand, plan and engineer the different RAN features and solutions following the roadmap.
- Provides technical guidance to RAN Engineering team in regards to the network planning / advanced optimization strategies / traffic balancing.
- Generate a complete RAN master plan aligned with Group strategy for all assigned projects.
- Manage group of Engineers / consultants under own accountability and provide guidance, development, report work progress and evaluate performance.
- Engage in Budget activities including budget forecast, capitalization, WIP clearance, PO issuance, Acceptance, warehouse audit, ...., etc).
- Project management for different medium and large scale RAN projects (inter department), with full accountability on time, cost and quality of the deliverables.
- Accountable on the transversal RAN projects across the three regional teams covering OEG network footprint.
- Ensure as a PMO for the entire RAN Projects, alignment & synergy with other running projects inside the technology.
- Generates the Management plan for the large scale cross departmental Projects.
- OEG SPOC to liaise with Orange group to develop and implement the global group strategy for network transformation.
- Assessing and testing different radio sites solutions/controllers hardware and software solutions in cooperation with Skill center team.
- Drive studies and validation to the skill center/ vendor teams for the best solutions that contribute to OEG network strategy & technology evolution.
- Developing new solution in the network to customize cost and simplify the network architecture for 4G and 5G future roadmap.
Job specification
Education
- Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering: Electronics and Communication.
Experience
- Minimum 4 years of work experience, 2 of which in a relevant role.
- Excellent knowledge in the following systems: 2G, 3G & 4G.
- Experienced in RAN equipment engineering and implementation.
- Good knowledge in transmission systems, Core CS & PS and Data Networks implementation projects.
- Good knowledge in traffic design and forecast of future expansions.
