To follow up the O&U process units to achieve high production quality and safe operations
Supervision of Subordinates
- Undertake the delegated responsibilities of the O&U shift supervisor in his absence.
- Follow up/ Lead the subordinates (panel engineers and operators) performance, follow up the operation activities to ensure efficiency and effectiveness according to the agreed-upon standards.
- Provide technical support to subordinate, review the reports issued by them and contribute in the training /development of the new recruits to minimize errors and ensure quality work.
Resolve problems and address complaints if necessary.
Policies, Processes & Procedures
Ensure that the policies and procedures are being implemented correctly to guarantee that work is done in an efficient and effective manner.
Ensure that the health and safety measures and procedures are being followed properly to guarantee a safe working environment
Reporting
- Provide required reports and feedback timely and accurately about the O&U activities to ensure the plans are being followed and executed according to schedule.
- Assist the shift supervisor in preparing the operational reports.
- Check panel log sheet/ log book and report to shift supervisor for any abnormality.
O&U Activities
- Control and maintain the process parameters on panel for various units to obtain quality parameters within the specified guidelines of the SOP for all units.
- Communicate with the Lab for sample analysis and notify the shift supervisor with any deviation.
- Make minor process plant adjustments if needed.
- Report the plant upsets and abnormal conditions to the shift supervisor, analyse and identify the root causes, provide the proper corrective action to the shift supervisor for approval and inform the concerned departments.
- Implement the necessary corrective action in case of any deviation or abnormality in process or quality parameter under the direction of the shift supervisor to keep the safe operability and integrity of the plant.
- Keep track of the alarms and alarm history to sustain the plant operations and investigate the causes of deviation.
- Keep track of the fire and gas alarms and notify the fire department and the shift supervisor.
- Record and suggest improvements for operations and control functions based on his technical experience.
- Manage the process and plant emergencies (such as compressor trips, pump failure, power or utility failure, leaks, etc...) through safe shutdown, isolation and blow down of relevant plant section.
- Participate in the risk analysis studies and safety committee activities.
Assist the shift supervisor in preparing, implementing and monitoring the SOP and operation manuals to ensure high levels of plant performance.
- Monitor and control the processes through the DCS and PLC control panels and operate the DCS for the plant’s start-up and shutdown operations to ensure consistent quality, yield of products, and safe start-up and emergency shutdown to meet the target production levels.
- Monitor the usage of the raw materials, chemicals and other utilities.
- Follow up with daily basis the inventory of additives, chemicals, catalyst, and all the raw material needed in PP plant.
- Assist in root cause analysis for miss operations and report to shift supervisor with the required process trends and alarm lists.
Academic and professional qualificationsBachelor’s degree in chemical science /petroleum engineering or chemical engineering. (or equivalent)ExperienceMinimum 9 years of experience in a relevant field
