Teacher Assistant

  1. Work with the classroom teacher to monitor the students, the class, and the class schedule.
  2. Ensure that students are safe.
  3.      Proactively watch and interact with students, including but not limited to in-between classes, during lunch, after school, and field trips.
  4. Assist classroom teacher in lesson preparation by getting materials ready and setting up equipment.
  5. Work with individual and/or groups of students to help them in their learning. 
  6. Follow the teacher’s instructions on photocopying and other tasks (sharpening pencils, cleaning and preparing materials for class, checking student bags, taking homework out of folders, etc.). 
  7. Collaborate with the teacher for the appropriate times to complete copying, cutting, bulletin board tasks. 
  8. Assist teachers during classroom transitions, i.e. during change of classes. 
  9.      Teaching assistants will remain with the students during music, physical education, and computer classes. 
  10. Treat students with kindness and respect. 
  11. Be firm. Expect students to follow the rules but respond to them in a calm and even voice level. 
  12. Ensure the classroom environment is safe and clean.
  13. Always use English in the conversations with students.
  14. Refer parents to the classroom teacher in all matters relating to the students.
