The Senior Cost Estimation Engineer is responsible for leading the preparation of detailed and accurate cost estimates for infrastructure and building projects. This role requires deep knowledge of construction practices, pricing trends, and tendering processes. The engineer plays a critical role in pre-contract phases, ensuring cost-effective and competitive bids while minimizing risk and maintaining profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze project drawings, specifications, BOQs, and other tender documents for accurate estimation.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for civil, structural, architectural, and MEP works in infrastructure and building projects.
  • Lead the development of pricing strategies, quantity take-offs, and resource calculations.
  • Obtain and review quotations from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure cost accuracy.
  • Conduct risk assessments and propose contingency measures for potential cost overruns.
  • Collaborate with planning, procurement, design, and execution teams to gather technical and commercial inputs.
  • Participate in value engineering and propose alternative cost-saving solutions.
  • Support technical and commercial clarifications during tender evaluations and negotiations.
  • Monitor and analyze market rates and trends for construction materials, labor, and equipment.
  • Prepare final tender submissions including cost summaries, unit rates, and commercial proposals.
  • Maintain and update internal cost databases and estimation tools for future reference.


Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
  • minimum 10 years of experience in cost estimation, with a strong focus on infrastructure and buildings .
  • Proficiency in estimation software such as CCS Candy, CostX, AutoCAD, and MS Excel.
  • Strong knowledge of construction practices, codes, and local/international market pricing.
  • Ability to perform accurate quantity take-offs and interpret technical documents.
  • Excellent numerical, analytical, and reporting skills.
  • Strong leadership and communication abilities.
  • Experience working with FIDIC or similar contract forms is preferred.
