Health and Safety Policies and Compliance:
- Develop, implement, and regularly update the factory’s health and safety policies, ensuring compliance with local laws, international standards, and industry best practices.
- Conduct regular audits, risk assessments, and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety Management System) standards.
Risk Management:
- Identify potential workplace hazards, including machinery, chemical handling, and noise, and implement measures to mitigate risks.
- Develop emergency response plans and lead drills (e.g., fire, chemical spill, evacuation).
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, providing detailed reports and recommendations to prevent recurrence.
Training and Awareness:
- Design and deliver health and safety training programs for all employees, including induction training, toolbox talks, and refresher courses.
- Promote a culture of safety awareness and accountability across all levels of the organization.
Incident Management and Reporting:
- Oversee incident and injury reporting systems, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
- Analyze trends in accidents and near misses, providing actionable insights for improvements.
- Liaise with external regulatory bodies during inspections or investigations.
Factory Operations Safety:
- Monitor and enforce the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) by employees and contractors.
- Ensure all machinery, tools, and equipment meet safety standards, coordinating with maintenance teams for corrective actions when necessary.
- Assess and monitor the safe storage, handling, and disposal of hazardous materials.
Team Leadership and Collaboration:
- Lead the Health and Safety team, providing guidance, mentoring, and performance evaluations.
- Collaborate with production, HR, and logistics teams to integrate safety considerations into daily operations.
- Support the HR department in addressing employee health concerns and implementing wellness programs.
Education & Experience:Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, or a related field.Minimum 15-20 years of experience in health and safety management, preferably in the manufacturing or paper industry.Technical Skills:Certification in health and safety management (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA).In-depth knowledge of local and international health and safety regulations and standards.Experience with implementing ISO 45001 or similar management systems.Proficiency in risk assessment tools and incident investigation methods.Key Competencies:Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Leadership and team management abilities.High attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure.Proactive and results-oriented mindset.Preferred Qualifications:Experience in the paper manufacturing or heavy industrial sectors.Knowledge of environmental regulations related to manufacturing processes (ISO 14001).Familiarity with fire safety and hazardous materials management.
