Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Agricultural Planning Manager to join our dynamic team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of agricultural planning, ensuring the consistent supply of high-quality potatoes to meet our production needs while optimizing yield and minimizing risks.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with farmers and agronomists to develop and execute annual planting plans, including variety selection, acreage allocation, and planting schedules.
  • Monitor crop growth and development, providing guidance and support to farmers on best practices in irrigation, fertilization, and pest/disease control.
  • Conduct regular field visits to assess crop health, identify potential issues, and implement corrective measures.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with potato growers, ensuring timely and reliable delivery of high-quality produce.
  • Negotiate contracts with farmers, ensuring fair pricing and mutually beneficial agreements.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews with suppliers and provide feedback on their performance.
  • Establish and maintain strict quality control standards for incoming potatoes.
  • Implement and oversee quality assurance procedures, including inspections and testing.
  • Investigate and resolve any quality issues that arise.
  • Analyze production data to identify areas for improvement in yield and efficiency.
  • Explore and implement new agricultural technologies and practices to enhance productivity and sustainability.
  • Monitor market trends and adjust plans accordingly to maximize profitability.
  • Forecast and plan for future potato needs, ensuring adequate inventory levels to meet production demands.
  • Collaborate with the production team to optimize inventory utilization and minimize waste.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with potato production, such as weather events, pests, and diseases.
  • Develop and implement contingency plans to address unforeseen challenges.

Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, or a related field.5+ years of experience in agricultural planning, management.Proven experience in managing relationships with farmers and other stakeholders.Strong understanding of agricultural principles and practices.Knowledge of quality control and food safety standards.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Experience in the potato industry.Knowledge of sustainable agriculture practices.Experience with data analysis and reporting.
