The Cost Estimation Engineer at Mena Group will be part of the Technical Office team and will be responsible for preparing accurate and detailed cost estimates for various projects within the company. This role involves close collaboration with project managers, designers, and procurement teams to ensure that all cost-related factors are identified and accounted for early in the project lifecycle, ensuring that the projects are delivered within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare Cost Estimates: Develop detailed cost estimates for construction and engineering projects, covering materials, labor, equipment, and other necessary resources, all coordinated from the Technical Office.
• Analyze Drawings and Specifications: Review project specifications, blueprints, and technical documents to ensure that cost estimates align with the project’s scope and requirements.
• Market Research: Conduct research to gather up-to-date information on material prices, labor rates, and other costs, ensuring estimates are accurate and reliable.
• Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and uncertainties in the cost estimation process and provide solutions to address them.
• Collaboration with Teams: Work closely with project managers, procurement, and design teams to ensure estimates reflect technical requirements and are realistic.
• Cost Control: Track project costs from the Technical Office, comparing actual costs with estimated costs and suggesting corrective actions if needed.
• Prepare Reports: Produce detailed cost reports and budgets, highlighting any significant variations, and communicate them to senior management.
• Review Bids: Evaluate bids from contractors and suppliers, ensuring they match the estimated costs and project specifications.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all estimates, revisions, and supporting documentation within the Technical Office for future reference.
Education:• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.• Relevant certifications such as AACE or RICS are a plus.Skills:• Experience: At least 4 years of experience in cost estimation, ideally within the construction or engineering sector, and familiarity with the technical office environment.• Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and cost estimation practices.• Cost Estimation Tools: Proficiency with tools such as CostX, Procore, or MS Excel.• Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze and break down technical drawings and specifications to prepare precise cost estimates.• Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail, ensuring all estimates are accurate and complete.• Communication Skills: Effective communication skills to collaborate with technical teams and provide clear reports to management.• Project Management: Understanding of project management principles to coordinate with the project teams and ensure cost management throughout the project lifecycle.• Negotiation Skills: Strong negotiation skills to handle discussions with suppliers and contractors.Personal Traits:• Strong organizational and time management skills.• Ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks efficiently.• Collaborative team player with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
