Job Summary: The Network and Security Engineer will design, implement, and manage secure network infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and protection against security threats. This role requires in-depth knowledge of networking protocols, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and security measures to safeguard the organization’s data and systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement secure network infrastructure to support business operations.
- Configure and manage firewalls, VPNs, and other security appliances.
- Monitor network performance and security systems for potential vulnerabilities, threats, and intrusions.
- Perform risk assessments and security audits to identify areas for improvement.
- Implement security measures such as encryption, access control, and multi-factor authentication.
- Collaborate with IT teams to ensure systems are secure and meet performance standards.
- Develop and enforce security policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot routers, switches, load balancers, and other network devices.
- Manage the configuration and administration of network monitoring tools and logging systems.
- Respond to security incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory frameworks and industry standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS).
- Train staff on cybersecurity practices and provide user support when needed.
- Stay updated with the latest security trends, tools, and technologies, and recommend upgrades or changes to the network.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.> 5 years experience as a Network Engineer, Security Engineer, or similar role.Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSPF, etc.).Hands-on experience with firewall management, IDS/IPS systems, VPNs, and anti-virus software.Familiarity with cloud network security (AWS, Azure, GCP) and secure cloud architectures.Proficiency in configuring and managing routers, switches, and load balancers.Knowledge of encryption standards, VPN technologies, and network access controls.Experience in performing security audits, penetration testing, and vulnerability assessments.Understanding of compliance frameworks (PCI-DSS, ISO 27001, HIPAA) and data privacy laws.Proficiency with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, Wireshark).
