What you’ll do
Role purpose:
• Shaping the policies and regulations that impact Vodafone’s interest and strategic objectives via advocating the proper policy asks to policy makers establishing a ground of mutual benefit across all governmental establishments.
• Executing the direction and strategy for VFE engagement with the external environment as in Prime Minister office, different Ministries, Ministry of Interior, Army, and National security agencies.
• Manage our engagement with Prime Minister office, different Ministries, government authorities, consumer protection Authority and Regulatory bodies establishing preferential treatment within these agencies driving values for VFE, through proactive negotiations while promoting internal understanding of the government environment
Key accountabilities and decision ownership
•Establish preferential treatment and managing VFE’s relationship with Governmental entities Ministries, different Authorities, & policy makers through setting strategies, negotiating policies, shape in/out company communications and influencing authorities.
•Acquiring the needed bill drafts that impact Vodafone’s operations and business, accordingly, establish the proper pitch and engagement plan with relevant stakeholders to advocate the interests of Vodafone to policy makers.
•Develop the needed stakeholders mapping to deliver Vodafone Policy Asks including relevant influential bodies (Cabinet , relevant ministries , security agencies , governmental authorities and NGO)
•Develop and execute Engagement plan with Egyptian parliament and the relevant committees affecting Vodafone’s business operations, opportunities and threats.
•Develop the needed SLT’s governmental engagement plan.
•Manage with external communications team the external comms campaigns required to advocate Vodafone’s policy asks and provide the public with sufficient knowledge and insights to support proposing new policies, legislation and regulations positively affecting company’s business objectives and strategic goals.
•Strategy setting for strategic projects and services via Influencing public policy makers supporting company business objectives and enhancing our reputation.
Core competencies, knowledge, and experience:
• Effective strategic communication is critical to successful government relations and public affairs advocacy, negotiation vertically and horizontally with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely attention and enthusiastic corporation from one side, engage and deliver on operations and project implementation
• Lobbyists are advocates in a complex system of legislation/new policies creation.
• Specific detailed Knowledge, experience and professionalism that aids in running large scope relationships and agreements.
• Experience in dealing with governmental entities with proven track in communicating comfortably, inclusively and clearly; up, down and across a sizable business.
• Broad diversified awareness of the know–how of the business with additional weight on the knowledge and application of line management skills.
Must have technical / professional qualifications:
• 4+ years’ experience in Public Policy or Government Affairs functions or related fields.
• Bachelor’s in business administration or BSc in Economics & Political Science or related fields with an understanding of regulations and public policy.
• Excellent Relationship/ account management capabilities.
• Experience in dealing with Governmental entities.
• Excellent cross functional tasks and project management
• Strong communication and negotiation vertically and horizontally with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely attention and enthusiastic corporation from one side, engage and deliver on operations and project implementation
