Overall Purpose of the Job:
The Furnace Engineer is responsible for ensuring efficient and reliable operation of the furnaces, implementing preventive maintenance programs, troubleshooting issues, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The Furnace Engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to optimize furnace performance, improve energy efficiency, and maintain product quality.
Job Responsibilities:
- Oversee the operation and performance of the furnace systems, ensuring they meet production requirements and quality standards.
- Monitor furnace parameters, such as temperature, pressure, and flow rates, and make adjustments as necessary to maintain optimal operation.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for the furnaces, including regular inspections, cleaning, and replacement of components.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams to schedule and perform maintenance and repair activities on furnace equipment.
- Identify and diagnose furnace-related issues, such as temperature variations, fuel consumption, refractory wear, and glass defects.
- Analyze data, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to resolve furnace problems and optimize performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, quality, and maintenance, to address and resolve furnace-related issues.
- Monitor energy consumption and identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency in furnace operations.
- Implement energy-saving initiatives, such as optimizing fuel usage, reducing heat loss, and implementing heat recovery systems.
- Conduct studies and experiments to optimize furnace parameters, aiming to improve product quality, reduce costs, and increase productivity.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives related to furnace operations, maintenance, and performance.
- Implement process optimization projects, such as automation, control system upgrades, and equipment enhancements.
- Collaborate with production teams to test and implement new technologies and processes for furnace operations.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards in furnace operations.
- Identify and mitigate safety hazards associated with furnace systems, implementing appropriate controls and safety measures.
- Conduct safety audits and inspections, addressing any non-compliance issues and implementing corrective actions.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Proven experience in furnace operations and maintenance in manufacturing industry.Strong knowledge of furnace systems, including combustion processes, refractory materials, heat transfer, and control systems.Familiarity with furnace design principles, glass melting technologies, and related equipment.Proficient in troubleshooting furnace-related issues and conducting root cause analysis.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Knowledge of energy management and optimization techniques for furnace systems.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.Ability to lead and manage projects related to furnace optimization and improvement
