Civil Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer with a proven track record in the hospitality industry to manage and oversee the civil engineering aspects of our properties. With 15 years of experience, ideally within the Paradise Inn Group, the successful candidate will be responsible for the design, construction, and maintenance of our hotel infrastructure, ensuring that our historic and modern properties are safe, functional, and aesthetically aligned with our brand standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design & Planning:
    • Lead the design and planning of civil infrastructure for new projects and renovations across the Paradise Inn Group’s properties.
    • Work closely with architects, electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure cohesive and efficient design solutions that respect the historical significance of our properties.
  • Project Management:
    • Oversee and manage multiple construction and renovation projects simultaneously, ensuring that all work is completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
    • Prepare detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, resource allocation, and risk management strategies.
    • Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and construction teams to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Site Supervision & Quality Control:
    • Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and ensure that all construction activities are in compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and local building codes.
    • Implement rigorous quality control procedures to maintain the structural integrity and aesthetic quality of the hotels, particularly those with historical significance.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve any on-site issues that may arise during the construction process.
  • Compliance & Safety:
    • Ensure all projects comply with local, national, and international building codes and regulations, with a special focus on preserving the architectural heritage of historical hotels.
    • Conduct safety inspections and audits to ensure the safety of construction sites and the well-being of workers.
    • Manage the preparation and submission of all necessary documentation to regulatory authorities for permits and approvals.
  • Sustainability & Environmental Management:
    • Develop and implement sustainable building practices that align with the Paradise Inn Group’s commitment to environmental stewardship.
    • Recommend and oversee the use of eco-friendly materials and construction techniques.
    • Lead efforts to achieve green building certifications for new and existing properties.
  • Structural Integrity & Maintenance:
    • Ensure the structural integrity of both new and existing hotel properties by conducting regular inspections and assessments.
    • Develop and implement maintenance plans for civil infrastructure, with an emphasis on preventive maintenance and timely repairs.
    • Provide technical expertise in the renovation and restoration of historic hotel properties within the group.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Lead and mentor a team of junior engineers, designers, and site supervisors, providing guidance and fostering professional development.
    • Organize regular training sessions to keep the team updated on the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
  • Vendor & Contractor Coordination:
    • Manage relationships with external vendors, contractors, and suppliers, ensuring the timely delivery of materials and services.
    • Negotiate contracts and manage relationships to ensure cost-effectiveness and quality.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in civil engineering, with significant experience in the hospitality industry, preferably within the Paradise Inn Group for Hotels & Resorts.
  • Extensive knowledge of construction methods, building codes, and safety regulations.
  • Proven experience in managing large-scale projects, particularly in the renovation and preservation of historic buildings.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) and project management tools.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
