- Check whether all the welding procedure specifications (WPSs) for all different materials and conditions are fully applied in the site.
- Review work procedures & method statements for compliance with good work and practices.
- Witness of welder qualifications testing and procedures qualification testing.
- Inspect, measure, or test completed metal workpieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using measuring and testing devices.
- Read blueprints, work orders, or production schedules to determine product or job instructions or specifications.
- Supervise and review welding, assembling, alignment, and clamping of workpieces into holding fixtures to bond, heat-treat, or solder fabricated metal components.
- Set up, operate, or tend welding machines that join or bond components to fabricate metal products or assemblies.
- Prepare metal surfaces or workpieces, using hand-operated equipment, such as grinders, cutters, or drills.
- Observe meters, gauges, or machine operations to ensure that soldering or brazing processes meet specifications.
- Compute and record settings for new work, applying knowledge of metal properties, principles of welding, and shop mathematics.
- Select torch tips, alloys, flux, coil, tubing, or wire, according to metal types or thicknesses, data charts, or records.
- Start, monitor, and adjust robotic welding machines and production lines.
- Leads the site welding team and ensure that site team Company contractor(s)/ sub-contractor(s) are implementing and following the project quality control plan and Inspection and Test Plan (ITP’s).
- Ensures that all received materials have a complete material certificate and the receiving procedures are implemented properly and Ovum, shortage and Damage (OS&D) reports, if any, are forwarded to site and project managers for action.
- Ensures that corrective and preventive action(s) are implemented to close out the nonconformity report(s).
- Ensures that audit report corrective and preventive action(s) are implemented and items closed.
- Ensures the full implementation of the Company manuals, procedures and departmental work instructions, in accordance with the requirements of the Company Quality, Environmental and Health & Safety Management systems.
- Ensures the awareness and implementation of the Quality Control programs and Quality Assurance procedures for the department activities within the framework of the overall Company Quality Management system.
- Ensures the full awareness and implementation of the applicable requirements of the Company Quality, Environmental and Health & Safety Management systems.
Min Experience of 8 years in welding related activities within the Oil & Gas, petroleum or Petrochemical Project environment.Proven experience as welder in diverse welding structures like Piping / Pipelines.Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures.Experience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, calipers etc.)Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings.Knowledge of relative safety standards and adherence to safety and quality standards.Attention to detail.Professional Certification (ASNT Level II in RT, UT, MT, and PT & NDT level 3 Methods).Mechanical or metallurgical engineering with Masters’ Degree in welding.Or Bachelor of mechanical or metallurgical engineering with Professionalcertification in welding engineering (IWE, CWE, CWI, or another acceptable equivalent.
