Job Summary:
The Sheet Metal Die Designer Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing dies used in the sheet metal fabrication process. This role requires a deep understanding of engineering principles, CAD software, and the manufacturing processes involved in die creation and usage.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and Development:
Develop detailed die designs using CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or CATIA.
Create and modify die designs to meet project specifications and manufacturing requirements.
Conduct simulations and stress analysis to ensure die durability and functionality.
Project Management:
Manage die design projects from concept through to production.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, quality, and procurement to ensure design feasibility and manufacturability.
Maintain project documentation, timelines, and ensure on-time delivery of design projects.
Technical Support:
Provide technical support and troubleshooting for die-related issues in the production environment.
Work with toolmakers and machinists to ensure accurate die fabrication and implementation.
Conduct design reviews and provide feedback to improve die performance and longevity.
Continuous Improvement:
Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost reductions in die design and fabrication.
Stay updated with the latest industry trends, materials, and technologies in die design and sheet metal fabrication.
Implement best practices and standardize die design processes to enhance efficiency and quality.
Education:Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.Experience:Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in die design, specifically for sheet metal applications.Proficient in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, etc.).Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) and other simulation tools is a plus.Skills:Strong understanding of sheet metal forming processes and die fabrication techniques.Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.Strong communication and project management skills.
