Our sheet metal fabrication Factory is seeking a highly motivated Design Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you will play a key role in the design and development of electrical panel enclosures, ensuring they meet all functional and aesthetic requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with sales and engineering teams to understand customer needs and project specifications.
- Design electrical panel enclosures using CAD software (familiarity with SolidWorks preferred).
- Develop detailed 2D drawings and 3D models for manufacturing, including bends, folds, flanges, and other sheet metal features.
- Select appropriate sheet metal materials, thicknesses, and finishes based on application and industry standards.
- Perform manufacturability analysis to ensure designs can be efficiently produced in our factory.
- Communicate effectively with shop floor personnel to ensure designs are translated flawlessly into physical products.
- Review and address any design issues that may arise during the manufacturing process.
- Maintain and update engineering documentation as needed.
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).Minimum 2 years of experience in sheet metal design, preferably in a manufacturing environment.Experience in Electrical Panels is highly prefered Proficiency in CAD software, particularly SolidWorks (experience with sheet metal functionalities a plus).Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes (punching, bending, shearing, etc.).Good knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with various teams.Problem-solving skills and a strong attention to detail.
