Responsibilities:
1. Process & design Planning and Optimization:
• Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for producing compression mold for Rubber bearings and Spherical bearings for bridge construction.
• Optimize manufacturing processes for bearings sub-functions such as sheet metal fabrication, including cutting, bending, forming, welding, and assembly.
• Work with production teams to develop and implement efficient manufacturing processes for various bridge bearing types (elastomeric, spherical bearings, etc.).
2. Production Scheduling and Coordination:
• Develop manufacturing plans and schedules in coordination with production teams. Ensure timely completion of production targets while maintaining high standards of quality.
• Coordinate workflow to ensure timely delivery of Bearings while meeting customer requirements and deadlines.
• Monitor production progress, address any issues or bottlenecks, and adjust schedules as needed to meet production targets.
3. Quality Assurance and Control:
• Implement quality control measures to ensure that bridge bearings meet industry standards, specifications, and customer requirements.
• Conduct inspections tests and audits to verify mold dimensions, bearings surface finish, and functionality.
• Develop and maintain quality documentation, including inspection reports and quality assurance procedures.
• adherence to quality standards throughout the production process. Develop and implement quality control procedures to maintain product quality and reliability.
4. Equipment Maintenance:
• Oversee maintenance and calibration of manufacturing equipment and machinery to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate repairs as needed.
• Calculate and identify efficiency percentages, issues and propose improvements.
• Coordinate with toolmakers, machinists, and maintenance staff to optimize tooling performance and minimize downtime.
5. New Product Development Support:
• Participate in new product development initiatives, providing technical expertise in the design and manufacturing of bridge bearings.
• Collaborate with design and R&D teams to develop and implement new bridge-bearing designs and manufacturing processes. Ensure a smooth transition from prototype to production.
6. Documentation and Reporting:
• Maintain accurate production records, including work orders, process documentation, and inventory management systems.
• Generate production reports and performance metrics to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and identify areas for improvement.
7. Health and Safety Compliance:
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and best practices in the manufacturing environment.
• Conduct risk assessments, implement safety protocols, and provide training to production staff on safe work practices.
8. Continuous Improvement:
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the production process. Implement lean manufacturing principles and techniques to streamline operations and reduce waste.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost reduction, and waste minimization. Lead or participate in continuous improvement projects to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
Skills
Education:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees or relevant certifications are a plus.
Qualifications & Skills Required:
- 5-10 years of Practical experience in steel manufacturing, quality control, or structural engineering is advantageous.
- Proven experience in mold manufacturing, tooling, or related industries.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and technologies used in mold fabrication, such as CNC machining, laser cutting, punching, bending, and welding- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Solid Work, and CAD/CAM software for design and programming.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues in manufacturing processes.
- Project management skills to plan, organize, and execute production projects effectively.
- Familiarity with quality management systems (ISO 9001) and lean manufacturing principles.
