Forging Process Engineer Job Summary: Overall responsibility for supporting the Manufacturing Engineering Department and responsible of the industrialization process for forging products/items (hot and cold processes) related to Business unit, including data package analysis, forging process steps (routing), PFMEA, die design/manufacturing and supporting tooling requirements to deliver new and optimization of products manufacturing to support the achievement of targets and objectives as per requirements of the BU Director/ME Manager and ensure compliant results are provided to operations on time and toward its continuous development. Responsibilities: • Adheres to internal and customer policies and procedures, actively contributes to and follows established Manufacturing Engineering guidelines. • Reviews data packages provided by customers to support the preliminary steps of the industrialization process including EBOM requirements. • Defines, creates or modifies the manufacturing dossier not limited to (PFC) Process Flow Chart, covering all forging manufacturing process steps (between hot and cold sequences), work instructions and procedures required for the operations to produce and deliver conforming parts. • Supports and develops dies, tooling, fixtures to support forging operations with the support of forging simulation software. • Maintains the configuration of the products in charge. • Generates the EBOM and then the MBOM within the ERP, including the routing and linked with the required information as per PFC definition. • Records and manages all required actions from the project in charge of for new industrialization and Engineering change process as per assignment. • Applies statistical methods and performs mathematical calculations to determine optimized manufacturing processes in terms of safety, quality, repeatability, and cost. • Proactively resolves problems (technical, planning, or product quality), to maximize process repeatability, and minimize cost of production. • Develops and maintains PFMEA s related to forging processes. • Prepares/modifies technical drawings, specifications, calculations, visual aids etc. as required. • Drives and participates on continuous improvement projects (i.e. cost saving, industrialization, etc.)• Issues engineering memo s as official communication to production staff when an approved deviation is taken from WI s. • Participates and guide operations for first production batch, FAI's and or PPAP processes to deliver on Quality products. • Trains and develops personnel in the forging process field (operations, quality...) Qualifications: • Minimum of Bachelor s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Production, Manufacturing or equivalent)• Minimum of 10 years experience in Forging process related to Defense, Automotive and or Oil and Gas industries. Experience: • Relevant industrial exposures with hydraulic press with closed and open die forging process and hammer forging process with Steel, alloys, Aluminum materials. • Strong knowledges with hot and cold forging methods/technics. • Relevant knowledge in material science as per material working temperature and conditions based on forging technics. • Relevant experience with heat technology used in the forging process (heat induction, furnace...). • Advanced level in PFMEA, key process parameters and key characters definitions. • Relevant knowledge in using forging simulation software (desirable). • Customer focus and orientation skills. • Strong problem solving, planning, decision making. • Strong computer skills, proficiency in MS Office. • Strong ability to develop and train people. • Awareness of international standards in environment, health and safety.
