CAD Designer / Drafter — Remote Remote (offshore) · Full-time · Reporting into an engineering team in Saudi Arabia
About the role We are hiring a CAD Designer / Drafter to produce the drawing output of a small engineering and consulting department. You will work remotely as part of an offshore design resource, converting engineer mark-ups, survey data, and design intent into complete, coordinated drawing sets across civil, architectural, and electrical disciplines — and maintaining those sets through successive revisions. This is a production-focused role. It does not carry design authority: all deliverables are issued only after review and approval by the Head of Engineering. What the role does carry is ownership of quality and completeness. Because you will not be in the building, performance depends heavily on disciplined file management, clean revision control, and raising queries in writing rather than making assumptions. The work spans commercial, industrial, and residential facilities — fit-outs, renovations, infrastructure, and facility layouts. You will work directly with the responsible engineer, not through layers of coordination.
What you will do Drawing production· Produce civil, architectural, and electrical drawings from engineer sketches, mark-ups, site photographs, and survey data· Develop general arrangement drawings, layouts, sections, elevations, details, and schedules to department standards· Prepare as-built drawings from site measurement records supplied by site staff· Produce presentation-quality layouts and renders for internal client review where required Standards and coordination· Apply consistent title blocks, layering conventions, line weights, annotation styles, and drawing numbering across all deliverables· Cross-check drawings between disciplines to identify clashes, dimensional conflicts, and missing information before issue· Raise queries with the responsible engineer rather than making assumptions on unclear scope· Maintain drawing registers and issue sheets in coordination with the document controller Revision and file management· Maintain strict revision control; archive and clearly mark superseded drawings· Transmit deliverables in agreed formats and naming conventions, native and PDF files supplied together· Keep working files organised, backed up, and recoverable and accessible to the department at all times· Ensure external references, blocks, and standard details are properly bound and transmitted with each issue Delivery and communication· Confirm scope, priority, and deadline for each assignment before commencing work· Report progress on assigned packages at the agreed frequency and flag delays early· Maintain overlapping working hours with the head office to allow same-day clarification of queries· Incorporate review comments promptly and completely, and confirm closure of each comment
What we are looking for· Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Architectural / Engineering Drafting· 4 to 8 years of CAD drafting experience on building, infrastructure, or fit-out projects· Demonstrated experience producing complete drawing sets, not isolated drawings· Advanced Auto CAD (2D); Revit, Sketch Up, or equivalent an advantage· Prior experience working remotely with an engineering team based in another country strongly preferred· Familiarity with GCC drawing conventions and municipal submission requirements an advantage· Advanced written English· A portfolio of representative drawing sets is required at application
