Job Purpose To ensure a safe, healthy, and environmentally compliant workplace by implementing EHS policies, ensuring compliance with legal and cosmetic industry standards, and supporting safe manufacturing, laboratory, and packaging operations.
Key Responsibilities Environment (E) Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to cosmetics manufacturing (waste, effluents, emissions). Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste (chemicals, rejected cosmetics, packaging waste). Coordinate with authorized vendors for waste disposal. Monitor water usage, effluent treatment, and pollution control systems. Support sustainability initiatives (waste reduction, eco-friendly practices). Health & Safety (HS) Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies and SOPs. Conduct risk assessments for:Cosmetic formulation labs Bulk manufacturing Filling & packing lines Warehousing & storage Ensure safe handling, storage, and labeling of raw materials, fragrances, chemicals, and solvents. Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses; implement corrective actions. Conduct regular safety inspections and internal audits. Manage PPE programs and ensure employee compliance. Coordinate emergency preparedness (fire safety, chemical spills, evacuation drills). Training & Awareness Conduct EHS induction and periodic safety training for employees, contract staff, and visitors. Train employees on:Chemical safety (MSDS/SDS) Laboratory safety Fire safety and emergency response Promote a strong safety culture across all departments. Regulatory & Compliance Ensure compliance with local EHS laws, labor safety regulations, and factory acts. Maintain EHS documentation, permits, and records. Support customer and third-party audits (ISO 14001, ISO 45001, GMP, customer audits). Liaise with government authorities and regulatory bodies as required. Collaboration Work closely with Production, Quality, R&D, Engineering, and HR teams. Support GMP and hygiene requirements specific to cosmetic private labeling. Participate in management reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Chemistry, or related field. EHS certifications (NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA, or equivalent) preferred. Knowledge of cosmetic manufacturing processes and GMP is an advantage.
Experience10–15 years of EHS experience in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, FMCG, or chemical manufacturing. Experience in private label manufacturing is highly desirable.
