The Prep Cook assists in the preparation of the dishes in the kitchen, performing routine kitchen tasks such as setting up workstations and ingredients so that food can be prepared according to recipes.


Core Responsibilities:

·        Follows the prep list created by chefs to plan duties and maintain a smooth cooking process.

·        Labels and stocks all ingredients on shelves to ensure they are organized and accessible.

·        Measures ingredients and seasonings to be used in cooking to ensure the right flavoring for food

·        Prepares cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat etc.to achieve smooth cooking process.

·        Undertakes basic cooking duties such as reducing sauces, parboiling food etc. to assist the main chef.

·        Prepares simple dishes such as salads, entrees etc.to serve them to the customers properly.

·        Maintains a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, taking out trash etc.to ensure kitchen hygiene and its compliance with sanitation standards

·        Ensures all food and other items are stored properly to maintain their quality.

·        Complies with nutrition and sanitation guidelines to ensure food quality

·        Performs other kitchen duties as assigned to achieve a smooth cooking process.


Skills

Qualifications:

  • Diploma degree in Culinary science or a related certificate would be a plus
  •   English and Arabic language skills (written and spoken)
  • 0-2 years
  •  Knowledge of food preparation and presentation
  • Working knowledge of kitchen equipment such as grills, ovens and fryers
