Shelter Technical Assistant-Engineering Jordan Azraq Camps Area

The Technical Camp Shelter Assistant is responsible for the design, planning and construction tasks related to maintenance of camp infrastructure and general construction activities inside the camp.

Roles and Responsibilities

The following is a brief description of the role.

Generic responsibilities  

These responsibilities shall be the same for all positions with the same title. The responsibilities shall be short and essential. Details belong in the Work- and Professional Development Plan.

  • Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks, and guidelines.
  • Assist a range of support with the implementation of the CC portfolio according to plan of action.
  • Implements in dependently procedures and activities within own function or core competency as delegated.
  • Responsible for organizing and delivery of tasks in line with priorities and standards.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of the specialist area of work in which technical assistance and support is being provided, to be most effective in supporting the team.
  • Use initiative in day-to-day problem solving in line with agreed procedures, priorities, and standards for the area of work.
  • Prepare and develop status reports as required by management.
  • Ensure proper filing of documents.
  • Promote and share ideas for improvement in your area of expertise.

Specific responsibilities

These responsibilities shall be adapted to the particularities of the job location and context, phase of operation, strategic focus, and type of program intervention. This section shall be revised whenever a new employee is hired or the context changes significantly. The line manager drafts the specific responsibilities and sends them to his/her line manager for approval.

  • Determines engineering requirements by conducting inspections and analytical tests; analyzing and synthesizing data; maintaining control charts.
  • Resolves engineering problems by collecting and analyzing information; researching, analyzing, adapting, and modifying engineering techniques; recommending solutions; preparing drawings, schematics, and diagrams; evaluating components, materials, and suppliers; resolving design integration issues; developing specifications and safety standards; performing installations.
  • Maintains project team accomplishments by communicating essential information; coordinating actions; obtaining expert input; reviewing open issues and action items; contributing information to team meeting sand reports; escalating project completion impediments.
  • Maintainsand improves qualityresults by completing quality assurance tests; following standards; studying, evaluating, and re-designing processes; implementing changes.
  • Participating in project planning by calculating the required manpower, time, tools, materials, …. etc.
  • Preparing daily, weekly, progress and final reports, and making sure that all the related  files are well documented.
  • Design culverts, roads, buildings, shelters, and any other type of infrastructure works based on the required and requested standards and specifications and following up with the contractor on the implantation process and work plan.
  • Following up with contractor on the infrastructure work activities and preparing progress and Fina reports.
  • Working on shelter construction project, and following up with the laborers, suppliers, and other teams.
  • Supporting design projects, including the preparation and review of technical drawings, schematics, and diagrams(including using compute raided drafting (Auto-Cad), developing clear specifications, Bills of Quantities and Scope of Works, and work plan as required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suits plus engineering design software including but not limited to: PROKON and AutoCAD.
  • Execute Field Assessments and quality Control of cases.
  • Reporting all requested activities on a weekly and monthly basis.

Qualification requirement:

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or equivalent. 

Years of Experience: 2

1- Two year experience of working in Structural Design activities 

2- Previous Experience in surveying work.
