Role Purpose:
The Financial Manager is responsible for the company’s overall financial leadership, governance, and strategic financial planning. The role ensures financial stability, cashflow optimization, compliance, and decision-support for management, while overseeing accounting operations through the Accounting Manager.
This position focuses on financial strategy, control, risk management, and business support, rather than day-to-day accounting execution.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Strategy & Business Support:
- Own financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting across all business units.
- Provide financial insights, analysis, and recommendations to support management decisions.
- Monitor business performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying risks and opportunities.
- Support pricing, cost control, and profitability analysis.
Financial Governance & Control:
- Ensure strong financial governance, internal controls, and compliance frameworks are in place.
- Review and approve financial policies, procedures, and controls implemented by Accounting.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, tax requirements, and accounting standards (GAAP/IFRS).
- Act as the primary financial risk owner for the organization.
Cashflow, Treasury & Working Capital:
- Oversee company-wide cashflow management and liquidity planning.
- Review cashflow forecasts and funding needs prepared by the Accounting Manager.
- Ensure optimal working capital management, including AR, AP, and payment cycles.
- Manage banking relationships and financing arrangements.
Oversight of Accounting Operations:
- Provide leadership and direction to the Accounting Manager.
- Review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports before submission to management.
- Ensure timely closing, accurate reporting, and disciplined follow-up on variances.
- Escalate and resolve critical financial or compliance issues.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Lead the annual budgeting process in coordination with department heads.
- Ensure rolling forecasts are updated and aligned with business realities.
- Track budget adherence and enforce corrective actions where needed.
Audit, Compliance & Reporting:
- Oversee internal and external audits and ensure readiness at all times.
- Review audit findings and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Ensure accurate, timely reporting to management and external stakeholders.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Coach and develop the Accounting Manager as a second-line leader.
- Ensure clear delegation, accountability, and performance management across finance.
- Build a strong finance culture focused on ownership, accuracy, and control.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.5-10 years of experience in a finance or accounting management role.
