  • Identify and evaluate different types of metals and alloys used in maintenance and repair operations.
  • Assess material weldability and select appropriate welding methods, consumables, and procedures.
  • Perform and supervise various welding processes (e.g., SMAW, GTAW/TIG, GMAW/MIG, FCAW) as required.
  • Apply and control heat treatment processes such as preheating, post-weld heat treatment (PWHT), stress relieving, and annealing when necessary.
  • Diagnose material-related failures (cracking, distortion, wear, corrosion) and recommend corrective actions.
  • Ensure repairs comply with applicable standards, procedures, and safety requirements.
  • Support maintenance teams with technical guidance related to metals, welding, and repair techniques.
  • Document repair procedures and contribute to continuous improvement of maintenance practices.


 


 


 Technical diploma or degree in Metallurgy, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.  Proven minimum 3 years experience in metallurgy within a maintenance, repair, or industrial environment.Strong practical knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous metals (carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, aluminum, cast iron, etc.).Solid understanding of metal weldability and welding metallurgy.Hands-on experience with multiple welding techniques.Knowledge of heat treatment principles and procedures related to welding and repair work.Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, welding symbols, and repair specifications.
