Overall Job Purpose:
The Senior Quality Control Engineer ensures that all bus and coach body-building processes meet the required quality standards, from metal industry to final vehicle delivery.
The role focuses on structural integrity, fit-and-finish, and safety compliance, while leading inspection teams and driving continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities1. Quality Inspection & Compliance
- Oversee inspection of bus and coach body structures, including chassis integration, welding, sheet metal work, painting, interior assembly, and electrical systems.
- Ensure all processes comply with company specifications, engineering drawings, safety regulations, and customer requirements.
2. Structural & Safety Quality
- Inspect welds, joints, and frame alignment to ensure structural durability and compliance with standards.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards such as BBI (Volvo specs) , Ansys (bus construction), or local safety regulations.
3. Fit & Finish
- Inspect seat installation, flooring, electrical harnessing, dashboard assembly, and HVAC fittings for correct alignment and finish.
4. Issue Analysis & Corrective Actions
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for defects such as paint issues, welding failures, noise/vibration problems, or electrical faults.
- Create and follow up on NCRs, CAPA reports, and quality alerts.
5. Supplier Quality Management
- Ensure and verify quality of incoming materials and components: seats, windows, mirrors, wiring harnesses, panels, AC units, hinges, etc.
- Evaluate and audit suppliers, particularly for outsourced body parts, accessories, and electrical components.
6. Process Improvement & Systems
- Lead continuous improvement projects to reduce rework, enhance build quality, and improve production flow.
- Contribute to updating work instructions, quality standards, and inspection checklists for bus body stages.
- Support ISO 9001, automotive quality standards, and any customer-specific requirements.
7. Team Leadership & Training
- Supervise QC inspectors across different production lines (welding, paint, assembly, electrical).
