The Mechanical Engineer – HVAC is responsible for the design, installation, testing, and maintenance of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems for residential, commercial, and industrial projects. The role ensures energy efficiency, compliance with industry standards, and optimal indoor air quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design HVAC systems based on project requirements, load calculations, and applicable codes.
- Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and material lists for HVAC installations.
- Select appropriate equipment (chillers, air handling units, ductwork, piping, etc.) to meet performance and efficiency requirements.
- Conduct heat load and cooling load calculations using industry-standard software (e.g., HAP, Carrier E20).
- Oversee installation, commissioning, and testing of HVAC systems on-site.
- Ensure compliance with ASHRAE, SMACNA, and other relevant standards.
- Coordinate with architects, electrical engineers, and other disciplines to integrate HVAC systems into overall building design.
- Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues during and after installation.
- Prepare operation and maintenance manuals for HVAC systems.
- Recommend energy-efficient solutions and system upgrades.
Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 3–7 years of experience in HVAC design and project execution.
- Proficiency in HVAC design software and AutoCAD/Revit MEP.
- Strong knowledge of ASHRAE standards and local building codes.
- Experience with VRF/VRV, chilled water systems, and ducted split systems is preferred.
