Purpose of the job
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Senior Network Engineer to lead and manage our data center operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the performance and availability of our Cisco ACI solution as well as legacy networking infrastructure. This role involves advanced troubleshooting, ensuring SLA compliance, vendor coordination, and customer support.
Duties and responsibilities
- Manage and maintain a hybrid network environment, including Cisco ACI (Application Centric Infrastructure) and legacy networking systems (traditional switching, routing).
- Monitor, configure, and optimize data center network performance, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Regularly review and maintain network configurations, policies, and security compliance across the ACI fabric and legacy systems.
- Experience with Infoblox DDI (DNS, DHCP, IPAM).
- Serve as an escalation point for Level 1/2 NOC engineers for complex network issues, including ACI fabric and legacy networks.
- Conduct in-depth diagnostics of routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP, EIGRP), VLAN, VRF, VxLAN, and other networking technologies.
- Perform root cause analysis for recurring issues, providing actionable insights and long-term solutions.
- Ensure that incidents are resolved within the defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Liaise with vendors (e.g., Cisco TAC) for advanced troubleshooting and hardware/software issues.
- Open, track, and manage support cases with vendors when required, ensuring timely resolution.
- Utilize network monitoring tools to ensure proactive detection and resolution of network issues.
- Document and maintain detailed incident reports and network performance data for analysis and reporting.
- Track and ensure that incident response and resolution meet established SLAs.
- Provide regular reports on network health, incidents, and SLA compliance to management and customers
- Lead planned maintenance activities, including software upgrades, hardware replacements, and network reconfigurations with minimal disruption to services.
- Support capacity planning and scalability initiatives for future network needs.
- Maintain comprehensive network documentation, including topologies, configurations, and procedures.
Job specification
Education
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience.
- 5+ years of experience working in a NOC, data center, or similar network support environment.
- Hands on Cisco ACI networks, including fabric management, APIC configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with Infoblox DDI (DNS, DHCP, IPAM).
- Experience with (xSTP, vPC, FabricPath, OSPF, BGP/MP-BGP, VXLAN/EVPN, ACI (L2out, L3out, L4-7 service graphs).
- Understanding the Architecture and Traffic flow for the Cisco ACI solution.
- Expert level knowledge in the areas of: IP inter-working, LAN Switching Protocols (MLS, CEF, Trunking (802.1Q), STP, HSRP, LACP/PAGP), IP Routing protocols (ISIS, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP).
- Experience in managing Cisco ASR/ISR routers.
- Upgrade APIC, Nexus and Catalyst 9K.
- Use Postman collections to configure quick tasks on the fabric.
- In-depth knowledge of network management, network availability capacity planning
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (ENCOR , DCCOR or equivalent) is must.
- Scripting/automation skills (e.g., Python, Ansible) to enhance network operations is a plus.
