The HSE Engineer is responsible for implementing and maintaining health, safety, and environmental policies in compliance with local and international regulations. This role ensures a safe working environment, minimizes workplace hazards, and promotes sustainability initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Health & Safety Compliance:
- Develop and implement HSE policies and procedures in accordance with OSHA, ISO 45001, and local regulations.
- Conduct risk assessments and hazard analysis to identify potential workplace dangers.
- Ensure compliance with workplace safety regulations and environmental laws.
2. Training & Awareness:
- Conduct HSE training programs for employees to raise awareness about workplace safety.
- Organize fire drills, emergency response training, and first aid programs.
- Promote a culture of safety through regular toolbox talks and workshops.
3. Inspections & Audits:
- Perform routine safety inspections of the workplace, equipment, and procedures.
- Assist in internal and external HSE audits, ensuring all documentation is up to date.
- Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near-misses, and recommend corrective actions.
4. Environmental Management:
- Ensure compliance with environmental standards such as ISO 14001.
- Monitor waste management, air quality, and water treatment processes to minimize environmental impact.
- Develop sustainability programs to reduce the organization's carbon footprint.
5. Reporting & Documentation:
- Maintain records of safety incidents, audits, risk assessments, and training sessions.
- Prepare monthly HSE reports and present findings to management.
- Ensure proper documentation of safety procedures and compliance records.
6. Emergency Response & Crisis Management:
- Develop and implement emergency response plans and evacuation procedures.
- Coordinate with local authorities and emergency response teams when needed.
- Ensure that all safety equipment, such as fire extinguishers and PPE, is properly maintained.
Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- have 3-5 years of experience in an HSE role, preferably in industrial, manufacturing, or construction environments.
- Knowledge of HSE regulations and standards such as OSHA, ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and local environmental laws.
- Certification in NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and training skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HSE management software.
