Job Summary
The IT Shift Engineer is responsible for monitoring and maintaining the IT infrastructure during assigned shifts to ensure smooth and uninterrupted operations. They respond to technical incidents, resolve issues, and support users while adhering to organizational standards and procedures
Key Responsibilities
System and Network Monitoring
Monitor servers, networks, and IT systems to ensure optimal performance
Respond to alerts and alarms, diagnosing and resolving technical issues promptly
Incident Management
Handle and resolve technical incidents during the shift
Escalate critical issues to the appropriate teams when required
Log incidents and actions taken in the ticketing system
User Support
Provide technical support to end-users for hardware, software, and network-related issues
Assist users in troubleshooting and resolving problems effectively
Routine Maintenance
Perform routine system checks and maintenance tasks
Ensure backup procedures are executed as scheduled
Documentation and Reporting
Record shift activities, incidents, and resolutions in detailed reports
Communicate unresolved issues to the next shift or relevant teams for follow-up
Security and Compliance
Ensure all IT activities during the shift comply with the organization's security protocols
Respond to and address any security incidents or vulnerabilities identified during the shift
Coordination and Handover
Ensure smooth handover of duties to the next shift with a detailed status update
Coordinate with cross-functional teams as needed
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
Experience
2-3 years of experience in IT support or operations, preferably in a shift-based role
Technical Skills
Proficiency in operating systems (Windows, Linux, or macOS)
Basic networking knowledge (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
Familiarity with monitoring tools and ticketing systems
Experience with backup and recovery tools is a plus
Soft Skills
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Work Environment
Shift-based role requiring flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays
May involve on-site and remote support responsibilities
