The Planning Engineer is responsible for developing, monitoring, and updating project schedules to ensure timely delivery of construction projects. This role involves coordinating with various stakeholders, analyzing project progress, and implementing strategies to address any delays or issues.
- Project Scheduling: Develop detailed project schedules using planning software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project), outlining all phases of construction and resource requirements.
- Progress Monitoring: Track project progress against established timelines, conducting regular updates and reviews with project teams to ensure alignment with project goals.
- Resource Management: Coordinate with project managers and department heads to allocate resources efficiently, identifying any potential shortages or conflicts.
- Risk Analysis: Identify and assess potential risks to project timelines, developing mitigation strategies to minimize delays.
- Reporting: Prepare and present regular progress reports to senior management and stakeholders, highlighting achievements, challenges, and any necessary adjustments to plans.
- Collaboration: Work closely with site engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to facilitate communication and ensure effective project execution.
- Change Management: Evaluate the impact of changes in scope or design on project schedules and develop revised plans as needed.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive records of all planning-related documentation, including schedules, reports, and correspondence.
Skills
