Job Purpose:
Procure and coordinate day to day purchasing of construction materials for local procurement department, this will be by developing local strategies for the area, selecting the portfolio of suppliers, supporting the site in negotiation meetings with suppliers and negotiating annual contracts, according to production needs and clients’ specifications to provide cost savings and cost reductions to the company, maintaining the agreed service level. Whilst ensuring the supply of goods into the business is managed effectively.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement sourcing strategies to identify and qualify new suppliers.
• Conduct market research to find the best possible prices and terms for goods and services.
• Negotiate contracts with suppliers to secure the best possible deals.
• Create a WBS for the projects procurement items and make sure that the Quantities and Specifications is meeting the Project’s needs.
• Manage the requisition process from departments within the company.
• Manage the Consultants Material approvals and samples preparation before initiating the PO for each project.
• Issue purchase orders and track deliveries.
• Resolve any issues with suppliers or deliveries
• Review and negotiate contracts with suppliers.
• Ensure that contracts are compliant with company policies and regulations.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.
• Conduct supplier performance reviews.
• Identify and mitigate supplier risks.
• Develop and manage procurement budgets.
• Track and report on procurement spending.
• Identify opportunities for cost savings.
• Study all the project documents; drawings, BOQ, Project Specifications, Contract and Tendering inquiries.
• Stay up-to-date on the latest procurement trends and best practices.
• Implement new procurement technologies and processes.
• Manage risk and compliance in the procurement process.
• Support other departments in the company with their procurement need
Qualifications
- 5 to 10 years of professional experience in a procurement role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering ( Architecture or Civil )
- Accomplished communication skills with experience discussing finances, budgets, and costs.
- Proven history of successful supplier negotiation.
- Able to demonstrate continuous improvement through purchasing processes.
- Time management and organizational skills with the ability to work to strict deadlines and under pressure.
