Brief description
A Design Team leader will be in charge of project design, his main role is produce shop drawings, materials take off, fabrication drawings and as built for one and/or various project, supporting Design Manager, including Pre & Post-tendering activities, and providing leadership to his team.
Reporting to: - Design Manager and Technical Manager.
Responsibilities
- Leading a team/teams, involved in Design, Technical Submittals, Shop Drawings, Materials and Fab Drawings for on-going projects and during projects' bidding stage.
- Having the leadership skills to assign the tasks for his subordinates, in accordance to their available time schedules, sheets and efficiency required.
- Providing perspective of his design team.
- Maturity to work goals on hand, but also able to consider strategies of White Aluminium and create opportunities.
- Team Lead tasks and Revision for subordinates.
- Coaching, sparring and giving feedback for his team.
- Working on projects with a commercial as well as engineering objective.
- Reporting and communicating activities and performance of his team.
- Review actual project documents and Client requirements verses tender documents and advice changes if any.
- Responsible for overseeing the design process for his project, managing, developing and training his subordinates.
- Participate pre and post bid meetings as required in order to present technical knowledge with Clients and provide support to project team.
- Obtain approvals in coordination with project’s team and update planning logs.
Essential Skills Leadership skills Insure submission of presentable drawings to clients in timely manner. Prepare report (weekly/ monthly) illustrating actual submittals against planned activities. Liaising among different departments [Technical, procurement, planning and project management] Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering field. Minimum of 5 -10 years’ experience in the same manufacturing industry. 1-2 years’ experience in a leadership design position. Good knowledge of technical design, planning and time management.
