About the role

We are looking for an experienced technical specialist who has previously worked with a range of business systems, who enjoys working with a diverse range of technical and non-technical stakeholders.

You will be taking a senior position in a team of developers in order to maintain and scale our content API layer. Will be collaborating with product delivery managers, quality assurance, product strategists and data specialists, to understand the project needs and requirements of a new large-scale social community platform.

Job purpose

You will have live product development experience, strong technical skills and will be used to working within a cross-functional team.

You will have a minimum 4 years of experience in building backend applications using NodeJS and Typescript. You will be working within the content experience API work stream of a team delivering a green-field community platform and expected to deliver to high standards within your technical expertise and experience.

Key responsibilities

• Maintaining and scaling our API contracts via REST layer operations.
• Developing "quality built in", maintainable code using Test First approach techniques.
• Ensuring new code and data extensions are deployable as well as observability capabilities built in.
• Collaborating with technical architect and quality team in order to refine and define development roadmap
• Coordinating with our community of development practice in order to extend and defend best standards.

You will need…

• A strong background in NodeJs & Typescript development techniques in order to write clean and testable code.
• Have strong background integrating with data layer such as MySQL, MongoDB, ES, Kafka. CRUD operations, migrating schema along with code, interacting with ETL data pipelines.
• Have experience working with leading web & ORM frameworks of nodeJS
• Have understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle. Practical use of feedback loops using CI and performing simple deployments.
• To deliver against data privacy and security standards.

It will be a big plus if you have…

• Experience in managing and fine tuning for performance.
• Basic DevOps experience especially in managing code pipelines.
• Extensive experience of working with cloud based environments (AWS).
