Media Republic is looking for a Managing Editor for Cairo360 – the leading guide to living in Cairo, Egypt.The person we are looking for has a minimum of 2 years’ experience working at an English-language publication in Egypt (print or online), strong leadership skills, a sense of adventure and an outgoing personality.
About the job
- Leading a team of writers to deliver quality content on Cairo360 on a daily basis.
- Managing the quality of our editorial content according to our guidelines, and ensuring a lead time of articles are always ready to publish.
- Management of editorial processes through the use of the Cairo 360 Content Management System.
- Aiding in the strategic direction of the publication and presenting proactive ideas
- Writing articles for Cairo 360 based on visits you will experience to restaurants, shops, cultural events etc.
- Work in collaboration with Social Media team to set, monitor and develop Cairo 360 social media presence.
- Collaborating with Sales & Marketing team in delivering advertorials and other projects with Cairo 360 clients and advertisers.
- Conceive and aid in delivering interesting, viral video content with Video Production team.
- Working on Cairo 360 marketing projects in conjunction with Sales & Marketing team.
- Editing/proofing material which appears on Cairo 360.
- Brainstorming new ideas for reviews, features, and interviews for the site in conjunction with Cairo 360 team.
- Managing relationships with freelance writers.
- Sourcing freelance writers for specific projects.
- Attending events on behalf of the publication.
- Securing high-value interviews with Cairo persons of interest.
- Various administrative duties.
Perfect spoken and written English, basic understanding of Arabic is a bonus.A minimum of 2 years experience as an editor in a publication with a proven track record managing the editorial process and team.A strong interest in lifestyle journalism, active on social media, strong awareness of and familiarity with Cairo.
