Civil Engineer Shop Drawing Drafter (Concrete)

1. Drafting and Design: Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software to create accurate and detailed shop drawings for concrete structures, including foundations, columns, beams, slabs, and retaining walls.

2. Interpret Engineering Plans: Review architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and other technical documents to understand project requirements and design intent.

3. Material Specifications: Determine appropriate materials, dimensions, and reinforcement details for concrete elements based on structural calculations and project specifications.

4. Coordinate with Engineering Team: Collaborate with civil engineers, structural engineers, and architects to resolve design issues, clarify requirements, and ensure compatibility between different components of the project.

5. Compliance and Standards: Ensure that shop drawings comply with relevant building codes, industry standards, and regulatory requirements, including ADA accessibility guidelines and seismic design criteria.

6. Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough reviews of shop drawings to verify accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project specifications before submission for approval.

7. Revision Management: Incorporate feedback and revisions from engineers, architects, and contractors into shop drawings in a timely manner, maintaining clear documentation of changes.

8. Communication: Facilitate communication between various project stakeholders by providing clear and concise explanations of design decisions, technical requirements, and construction details.

9. Documentation: Maintain organized records of all shop drawings, revisions, and correspondence related to the design process, ensuring that documentation is complete and easily accessible for future reference.

10. Construction Support: Provide technical support to construction teams during the implementation phase, addressing inquiries, clarifying details, and assisting with the interpretation of shop drawings on-site.

 


- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.- Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD or Revit.- Strong understanding of concrete materials, construction methods, and structural principles.- Knowledge of relevant building codes, standards, and regulations.- Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce accurate technical drawings.- Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
