Job DescriptionAs a Customs Analyst, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with customs regulations and facilitating the smooth movement of goods across international borders. Your primary focus will be on managing import and export processes, conducting tariff classifications, and providing expertise on customs-related matters. You will collaborate closely with internal teams, customs authorities, and external stakeholders to streamline customs clearance procedures and minimize risks associated with international trade.Responsibilities include:Customs Compliance: Ensure adherence to customs regulations, tariffs, and trade agreements applicable to import and export activities. Stay updated on changes in customs laws and regulations to ensure ongoing compliance.Tariff Classification: Accurately classify imported and exported goods according to the Harmonized System (HS) codes and other regulatory standards. Determine applicable duty rates, taxes, and fees for each product category.Customs Documentation: Prepare and review customs documentation, including import/export declarations, certificates of origin, and shipping manifests. Verify the accuracy and completeness of documentation to facilitate customs clearance processes.Customs Valuation: Assess the valuation of imported goods in compliance with customs valuation methodologies. Ensure proper valuation methods are applied, including transaction value, deductive value, and computed value.Risk Assessment: Conduct risk assessments to identify potential customs compliance issues, such as tariff classification discrepancies, valuation errors, or prohibited goods. Develop strategies to mitigate risks and address compliance gaps.Customs Procedures Optimization: Evaluate and optimize customs clearance procedures to expedite the movement of goods across borders while minimizing delays and costs. Identify opportunities for duty savings, preferential trade treatment, and duty drawback programs.Communication and Collaboration: Liaise with internal departments, external customs brokers, freight forwarders, and customs authorities to facilitate communication and coordination of customs-related activities.
