DROPS Surveyor - Drilling and Workover Rigs
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced DROPS (Dropped Object Prevention Scheme) Surveyor to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting comprehensive dropped object surveys and inspections across our drilling and workover rig operations to ensure the highest standards of safety and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct systematic DROPS surveys and inspections on drilling and workover rigs according to industry standards and company procedures
- Identify potential dropped object hazards through detailed visual inspections of overhead equipment, structures, and fixtures
- Document and catalog all potential drop hazards using specialized inspection software and equipment
- Create detailed inspection reports with photographic evidence and clear recommendations for remedial actions
- Collaborate with rig crews and maintenance teams to implement corrective measures
- Provide technical guidance on DROPS prevention strategies and best practices
- Maintain accurate records of all inspections, findings, and follow-up actions
- Monitor and verify the implementation of corrective actions
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in oil and gas industry, with at least 2 years specific experience in DROPS surveys
- Valid DROPS certification
- Thorough knowledge of DROPS best practices, tools, and inspection methodologies
- Strong understanding of drilling and workover rig operations and equipment
- Proficiency in using digital inspection tools and reporting software
- Experience with height safety equipment and working at heights
- Valid offshore medical certification (preferably)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional certifications in NDT, rigging, or related technical fields
- Experience with multiple rig types and configurations
- Background in mechanical engineering or related technical field
- Previous experience in training delivery (preferably)
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards (Drops international standards, API, ISO)
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in various weather conditions
- Capable of climbing and working at heights
- Physical fitness to access confined spaces and challenging locations
- Vision requirements: depth perception and ability to identify color differences
Working Conditions
- Regular travel to offshore and onshore rig locations
- Rotation schedule: [20 on / 10 off]
- May require emergency call-outs and weekend work
- Work in various weather conditions and environments
