Responsibilities of the Occupational Safety and Health Specialist:

Identify all activities at the facility and all ongoing production processes:
- Raw materials
- Intermediates
- Final product
- Hazardous materials and waste
Take necessary precautions to prevent potential risks.

- Identify hazards in the work environment (physical / mechanical / electrical / biological / chemical / psychosocial) in terms of their characteristics, sources, and how workers are exposed to their hazards and their effects on workers’ health and safety and the facility’s economics.
- Measure and assess pollutants and hazards using specialized measurement devices to determine the type of hazards, their concentration levels, their nature, quantity and quality, and their effects on workers’ health and the work environment safety
- Identify hazard and pollutant control and management systems
- Analyze and evaluate risks, potential industrial disasters and accidents and prepare emergency and crisis response plans and train workers on them
- Participate in setting technical specifications for PPE equipment and devices and verify their effectiveness and suitability to the nature of the work (masks of various types according to activity / gloves / boots)
- Analyze data related to work-related accidents, occupational diseases and serious accidents and draw necessary recommendations to prevent accidents and injuries at work
- Express opinions on awareness policy and educate workers through seminars, workshops, posters, and bulletins
- Participate with management in planning training programs for technicians and members of the occupational safety and health committee. Regular inspection of workplaces to identify risks and pollutants and workers’ compliance with instructions
- Prepare a file for managing occupational safety and health services and policies and insurance
- Prepare work permits before starting any maintenance or repair operations or any other operations that may pose a risk to workers’ safety and health
- Monitor and perform periodic and preventive maintenance to prevent fires and explosions as well as rescue and first aid equipment
