THE ROLE This is a hands-on design role. You will be involved from the early stages of a product, creating 3D models, producing manufacturing drawings, and supporting the physical build. Your CAD files will not sit in a folder; they will be used to manufacture and assemble real products that get shipped and installed in the field. Projects vary in scope and type, and you will have the opportunity to work across different product lines as the company grows. WHAT YOU WILL DO CAD design & 3D modelling • Create detailed 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings of our products using CAD software • Model enclosures, structural frames, mounting systems, and internal component layouts • Produce assembly drawings, exploded views, and parts lists (BOM) from 3D models • Create dimensioned 2D technical drawings with correct tolerances and surface finish callouts for manufacturing • Iterate designs based on feedback from the electrical engineer, project lead, and suppliers • Maintain an organised file structure and revision history for all CAD files • Experience using Jira for project management, task tracking, and team collaboration. Product development support • Support hands-on prototyping and physical build activities, measuring, fitting, and checking components against drawings • Assist with selecting standard hardware components: brackets, fixings, enclosures, cable management • Research local and regional suppliers for mechanical components and sheet metal fabrication • Prepare product presentation visuals, renders, exploded views, and layout diagrams for client proposals • Support the electrical engineer during installation by interpreting drawings and verifying fit • Conduct basic thermal and structural checks where needed Documentation • Produce clear, well-organised drawing packages for each product ready for manufacturing • Maintain product revision history and ensure drawings reflect the latest built version • Contribute to product manuals and installation guides with technical illustrations where needed
