PROJECT BACKGROUND

Feed the Future Egypt Rural Agribusiness Strengthening Project is an eight-year USAID-funded activity, supported by the U.S. government’s Feed the Future initiative. The project aims improve the competitiveness of Egypt’s horticulture producers and related down-stream businesses and food processors. The project promotes a more competitive and inclusive Egyptian economy through growth in selected horticultural sectors with special focus on securing employment and increasing agriculture-related incomes of smallholder farmers. The project operates in Greater Cairo, Upper Egypt, and the Nile Delta. 

ASSIGNMENT BACKGROUND 

The ATS Consultant will work alongside with the Capacity Building & Strategic Partnership Lead to develop and facilitate the activities related to cooperation with Ministry of Education & Technical Education (MoE) with the Agricultural Technical Schools (ATS) students. The Project will work with MoE to foster students in ATSs to apply the good agricultural practices of wheat cultivation in their school farm and within their community. Project will work on increasing of the capacity of teachers to deliver the recommended practices to students increasing production and productivity. ATS Consultant will be responsible for coordinating, organizing and drafting cooperation protocols with selected ATSs and follow up on the ATSs commitment to the cooperation with the Project. 

The ATS Consultant will help facilitate the capacity building of ATS teachers, aiming to link the market needs with the students’ acquired skills during their study, which will enhance the employability of those students. 

ASSIGNMENT DURATION: Maximum of 50 days 15 August 2024 - 31 December 2024

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work closely with the Project's Capacity Building and Partnership Lead in implementing the agreement that is concluded with the Ministry of Education & Technical Education to achieve the objectives of the Project. 
  • Coordinate the work between the Project and ATS through the Ministry of Education and Technical Education for implementing the capacity building program targeting the ATS students. 
  • Participate in developing and evaluating the workplan of the capacity building program for the ATS students and staff.
  • Identify the target groups (graduates, students, mentors, and teachers) for different types of training programs and workshops.  
  • Provide the necessary data and information about the targeted schools (number of students - number and specialties of teachers - fields or specializations).
  • Draft and review any correspondence between the Project and its partners with the Project's Lead before sending it to the technical education sector, the general administration of agricultural education or agricultural schools.
  • Field supervision of the implementation of training programs and workshops and report on each program or workshop explaining the pros and cons and recommendation for improvement.
  • Any other duties assigned by the supervisor.     

DELIVERABLES:

  • A monthly written report on the implemented activities.
  • Other deliverables as maybe assigned by the technical lead, such as:
    • Draft of official letters to MOE
    • Written report on results of training/workshops

 


The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications: More than 10 years of experience in a relevant field. Relevant educational degree.Previous work experience with the government bureaus (Ministry of Education and Technical Education).   Previous work experience in development projects, especially with ATS.Good communication and problem-solving skills. Good interpersonal and organizational skills.
