Corporate Accounting Head (Construction Industry)

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and analytical Corporate Accounting Head with a proven track record in the construction industry to lead our accounting and financial reporting functions. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial statements, developing and maintaining robust costing and asset tracking systems, and managing a large team of accounting professionals to maintain compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation and review of accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and relevant regulations. Ensure the accuracy of monthly financial statement closing processes.
  • Cost Accounting: Lead the development and implementation of sophisticated costing methodologies and systems to ensure precise cost allocation to projects, phases, and activities. Analyze cost data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for optimization.
  • Data Management and Analysis: Establish and maintain rigorous processes for collecting and validating large volumes of financial data from various stakeholders. Leverage your analytical skills to interpret data and provide valuable insights to financial and commercial departments.
  • SAP FICO Expertise: Utilize your in-depth knowledge of SAP FICO to optimize our financial and controlling processes. Ensure efficient utilization of SAP modules for accounting, cost control, asset management, and reporting.
  • Team Leadership: Build and manage a high-performing accounting team of 15+ accountants, providing mentorship, guidance, and training to foster professional growth. Promote a collaborative and results-oriented environment within the team.
  • Asset Accounting: Develop and maintain comprehensive asset tracking and accounting systems to ensure accurate recording, depreciation, and valuation of company assets.
  • Compliance and Internal Controls: Establish and maintain robust internal controls over financial reporting and accounting processes to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, mitigate risks, and safeguard company assets.

Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. CMA or equivalent professional certification is preferred.Experience:Minimum 15 years of experience in accounting and finance, with extensive exposure to the construction industry.Proven track record in leading and managing large accounting teams in complex, high-volume environments.Extensive experience in cost accounting, financial reporting, data analysis, and SAP FICO implementation and management.Technical Skills: Expert knowledge of GAAP and IFRS accounting standards. Proficiency in SAP FICO and other relevant accounting and ERP systems. Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in data analysis tools.Leadership: Exceptional leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate, inspire, and guide a large team to achieve exceptional results.Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex accounting and financial issues in a timely and efficient manner.Communication: Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and effectively collaborate with stakeholders across the organization, including executives, project managers, financial and commercial departments, and external auditors.CertificationsCMA (Certified Management Accountant) is preferred.ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) is a strong bonus.
