Mechanical HVAC Design Engineer

About the Role

T. H. E Architects, Planners & Civil Engineers is looking for a Mechanical HVAC Design Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing HVAC designs and technical documentation for a range of architectural and engineering projects, while working within a BIM-based design and coordination environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop HVAC systems and mechanical designs in accordance with project requirements, applicable codes, standards, and client specifications.
- Prepare HVAC calculations, equipment selections, load calculations, and system sizing.
- Develop detailed HVAC layouts, schematics, schedules, and technical drawings.
- Produce and maintain Revit MEP models in accordance with project BIM requirements and standards.
- Coordinate HVAC systems with architectural, structural, electrical, plumbing, and other disciplines within a multidisciplinary BIM environment.
- Participate in BIM coordination and clash detection and resolve design and coordination issues.
- Prepare design development and detailed design documentation from concept through construction documentation stages.
- Review and coordinate HVAC shop drawings, technical submittals, and material selections when required.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant international standards, codes, and project-specific requirements.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, BIM coordinators, and project managers to deliver coordinated design solutions.
- Support the preparation of technical specifications, BOQs, and tender documentation.
- Review project deliverables to ensure technical accuracy, consistency, and compliance with company QA/QC procedures.
- Assist in resolving technical issues during construction and provide design clarifications when required.

Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 2 - 5 years of relevant experience in HVAC design and building services engineering.
- Strong experience in HVAC system design and calculations.
- Proficiency in Autodesk Revit MEP and experience working within a BIM environment.
- Good knowledge of Auto CAD.
- Experience with Navisworks and BIM coordination is highly preferred.
- Good understanding of HVAC design principles, equipment selection, ductwork, chilled water systems, ventilation, and related mechanical systems.
- Knowledge of relevant international codes and standards.
- Ability to read and coordinate architectural, structural, and MEP drawings.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple project deliverables.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Experience working on large-scale, complex, or international projects is an advantage.

Preferred Skills

- Experience working on projects using BIM LOD 300–350 or higher.
- Experience in multidisciplinary BIM coordination and clash resolution.
- Familiarity with BIM standards, project BEPs, and model QA/QC.
- Experience with Navisworks Manage for coordination and clash detection.
- Experience working on hospitality, commercial, residential, healthcare, or mixed-use projects.
- Previous experience working with international consultants or clients is an advantage.
