We’re looking for a Staff Software Engineer - (Backend & Full Stack) to join Procore’s Engineering team. In this role, you’ll help revolutionize a historically underserved industry by building scalable SaaS solutions. Your primary goal is to translate fundamental customer needs into robust backend architectures and technological solutions that impact the way communities are built.

As a Staff Software Engineer (Backend & Full Stack), you'll partner with Engineering, Product, UX, Infrastructure, and Platform teams to design, build, and scale backend and full-stack software solutions that serve millions of users. Use your expertise in software architecture, technical leadership, and distributed systems to establish engineering best practices, drive large technical initiatives, and deliver solutions that delight customers while shaping the future of construction technology. This position reports into the Software Engineering Manager and will be based in our Cairo, Egypt office. We’re looking for someone to join us immediately.

What you’ll do:

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend and full-stack software solutions using modern technologies hosted on AWS and Kubernetes.

  
  
  

• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, UX, Infrastructure, and Platform teams to deliver customer-centric solutions.

  
  
  

• Lead technical design and architecture decisions that balance immediate business needs with long-term scalability and maintainability.

  
  
  

• Establish engineering best practices and drive cross-functional technical initiatives.

  
  
  

• Mentor engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, pairing, and knowledge sharing.

  
  
  

• Build and enhance modern CI/CD pipelines while ensuring software quality through testing, deployment, monitoring, and operational excellence.

  
  
  

• Leverage technologies including Ruby on Rails, Node.js, Java, React, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, and an evolving microservices architecture.

  
  
  

• AI is central to how we work. You’ll be expected to master generative tools and agentic workflows, moving beyond just using AI to actively building the agentic future of construction.

  
  
  

What we’re looking for:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent work experience.

  
  
  

• 10+ years of software engineering experience with a strong focus on fundamentals, Test Driven Development (TDD), and system design.

  
  
  

• Professional experience with as Ruby on Rails, Node.js, Java, React, Python, Go, or similar.

  
  
  

• Proven experience working with software, platforms, and infrastructure at scale, managing thousands of hosts and millions of users.

  
  
  

• Expertise in building and maintaining modern Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery systems at scale.

  
  
  

• Time-honed expertise with modern web development across the entire spectrum of development, testing, staging, deploying, and monitoring

  
  
  

• Experience leading large technical initiatives with the ability to course-correct and adapt as needed.

  
  
  

• Ability to understand tradeoffs between short-term and long-term goals to balance immediate needs with strategic initiatives.
