HDEC is seeking a highly skilled Substation HV Electrical Designer to lead the design of high-voltage
substations for renewable energy utility projects (PV & Wind). The candidate will independently
deliver compliant designs across various voltage levels, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and
ensure solutions adhere to IEC standards and country-specific requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute assigned engineering and design tasks per client specifications, applicable codes, andinternational standards (IEC)
- Develop comprehensive substation HV electrical designs (AIS, GIS, hybrid) for global renewableenergy projects.
- Produce full technical submissions, including:
o Single Line Diagrams (SLD) & General Layout Drawings
o Bill of Quantities (BOQ) & Technical Specifications
o Conceptual Design Reports & RFQ Packages
- Perform critical calculations: Earthing, Lightning Protection, Illumination, and Load Analysis, etc.
- Generate technical specifications for equipment/subcontractors and evaluate proposals forcompliance.
- Address client and Owner’s Engineer comments promptly and effectively.
- Develop solutions for design challenges, adapting standard methodologies as needed.
- Coordinate seamlessly with other engineering disciplines to optimize substation design.
- Deliver projects within agreed budgets and timelines with minimal supervision.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
- Experience: 5–8 years in HV substation electrical design.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Expertise in SLD, layout design, BOQ preparation, and technical specifications.
- Strong knowledge of IEC standards and international regulations.
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (verbal/written).
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
