- Administer network workstations and servers.
- Evaluate and/or recommend purchases of computers, network hardware, peripheral equipment, and software.
- Investigate user problems, identify their source, determine possible solutions, test and implement solutions.
- Plan and implement network security, including building firewalls, managing host security, and implementing preventive measures, file permissions, backup and disaster recovery plans, and adding, deleting users.
- Troubleshoot networks, systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational difficulties.
- Troubleshoot internet connections and WAN communication between Head Office and Branches.
- Install, configure, and maintain personal computers, Domain servers, network cabling, and other related equipment, and systems; adds or upgrades and configures modems, disk drives, printers, and related equipment.
- Ensure timely user notification of maintenance requirements and effects on system availability.
- Investigate, recommend and install enhancements and operating procedures that optimize network availability.
- Maintain confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed by the network.
- Document network problems and resolutions for future reference.
- Technical support officer for Head Office and stores as assigned.
- Refer major software problems or defective products to vendors or technicians for service.
Proven experience in a network administrator role at least 5 years Hands on experience in networking, routing and switching.Excellent knowledge of best practices around management, control, and monitoring of server infrastructureExperience with firewalls, Internet VPN’s remote implementation, troubleshooting, and problem resolution is desiredAbility to set up and configure server hardware.Familiarity with backup and recovery software and methodologiesGreat at organizing, prioritizing and multitaskingBSc degree in Computer Science or related field
