Your Commitment


Reporting to the Department Head, the successful candidate will be responsible for the development, delivery and evaluation of a broad range of courses in Paramedicine within the College of Health Sciences. S/he will evaluate student progress and manage the resources of the learning environment.  The successful candidate will liaise with industry and other educational institutions; participate in industry advisory committees and coordinate, manage and control projects within the specified program area. Faculty members will keep course portfolio documents required for accreditation processes and engage in instructional development/improvement plans. All employees are expected to contribute to professional and community life within the University and beyond.

Education and Experience Requirements


Faculty members will be placed in the appropriate rank based on their education and experience. The broad criteria are noted below.


 


For Assistant or Associate Professor:


Education



  • A PhD or Doctorate in Paramedicine or a related health field from an accredited academic institution. Those whose PhD or Doctorate is not in paramedicine must hold a graduate degree or undergraduate degree or diploma in Paramedicine.

  • All candidates must hold current registration as an Advanced Care Paramedic and be in good standing with the professional regulatory body.


Experience



  • Demonstrated record of academic experience and paramedicine practice.

  • Experience in teaching paramedicine at a post-secondary institution.

  • A minimum of five (5) years full-time equivalent recent clinical practice experience.

  • Demonstrated competence with curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation.

  • Demonstrated use diverse and current teaching approaches in the classroom and for practice experiences including the laboratory, simulation, and practicums.

  • Demonstrated ability to use a variety of educational technology and platforms.

  • Demonstrated academic and information literacy skills.


For Senior Lecturer and Lecturer:


Education



  • A Master's in Paramedicine or in a related health field from an accredited academic institution. For those whose Master's is not in Paramedicine, they must hold an undergraduate degree or diploma in paramedicine.

  • All candidates must hold current registration as an Advanced Care Paramedic and be in good standing with the professional regulatory body.


Experience



  • Minimum 5 years clinical experience, and experience teaching Para
